We have our new site Ginger Robot up and running now. Jan built this default theme to be more to our ginger loving tastes. We chose wordpress rather than a lovely Django blog framework, because we couldn’t find anything. If you do have some great django Blog software let us know in the comments and we’ll take a look one day. What I really wanted was to find a Django application that also used jquery for the interface, and had a couchdb back end. That would have been a great way to get started with this venture.
Anyway in the mean time I’ve been starting to learn Django itself, I’ve been doing the tutorials on the django website and that has been fun. So far I’ve really liked how I could just define what data I wanted then straight away could interact with it. Yay frameworks.
The idea behind this website is to document our progress in learning more about django, python, jquery, websites. Then we hope to build some of our own applications using these technologies and make the source available so others can get involved as well in the future.
